Q: Should I have my dental records transferred to Valley Center Smiles?

It is important to have full mouth x-rays taken at least every five years.  If you have already had a full set taken within the last four years, let us know.  You can request that your previous provider send us your x-rays, as a release form may be required by that office.  As for any other specific records, we can discuss the need for those at your appointment.

Q: Do you accept my insurance?

We will work with your insurer to estimate as best as possible how much of your treatment will be covered by your insurance plan and we will bill your insurer for that estimated amount.  You will be responsible at the time of service, for any portion not estimated to be covered by your plan. Please call us with any specific insurance questions or concerns that you have and we will do our best to help answer them for you.

Q: Do you see children?

Valley Center Smiles is pleased to offer its services to people of all ages.  We believe that a positive association with the dentist is crucial to your child's oral health.  As a result, we strive to ensure that our young patients are comfortable in the dental chair and that they know what to expect during treatment.  If your child is seeing the dentist for the first time or has had anxiety in the past, please let our receptionist know when you make the appointment.

Q: What do I do if I have an Emergency?

If you have a dental emergency, call the office right away at (760) 749-4700.  If the office is closed, Dr. Carlson’s direct number is provided on our office answering service allowing you to contact him directly for an after hours emergency.  If Dr. Carlson is unavailable, another local dentist will be on call to assist you.  If your emergency involves any airway or breathing problems or anything else that you feel cannot wait, please call 911 or go straight to the nearest Emergency Room.
